LAND PURCHASES
Fairfield County
Commissioners have spent millions of dollars in recent years on
property, including a downtown office building, carwash and
neighboring land and additional acres along West Fair Ave for
a new goverment complex. These are a few of the properties;
1. 1992: 342 W. Wheeling St for $255,000.The
misdemeanor jail is here this is a former Krogers store.
2. 1993: 121 N. Memorial Dr for $250,000. This is
vacant land. This is where the Charlie Horse nightclub
once stood.
3. 1997: 355 Lincoln Ave for $230,000 For County
Maintenance workers.
4. 1998: 407. Main Street for $125,000 for Emergency
Management Agency.
5. 1999: 227 E. Main Steet for $160,000 for Veteran
Services Commission.
6. 2000: 343 Lincoln Ave for $450,000 the county
wanted the land, not the Shine Time Car Wash.
7. 2001: 239 W. Main Street for $6.7 million for Job
and Family Services bought from AEP.
8. 2002: 2980 W. Fair Ave for $2.6 million The county
bought this property from the Gloryland Nazarene
Church.
The 66 acre property is now home to the Board of Elections, county
Educational Service Center, county Engineers office and garage, a
four-county juvenile detention center and a state Bureau of Motor
Vehicles office.
